Notes for: John Orlando Taylor
John was born on the 5th March 1915 at his parents residence in 71 Park Avenue Ashfield.
Sometime after and prior to the 5th August 1915 the family moved to Vale Street Canley Vale Sydney NSW where John was baptised in St. Paul's Church Canley Vale on the 5th August 1915. He was sponsored by his mother and Mrs. Boden and the baptism was performed by Frederick Mulleus.
He first attended Canley Vale School then moved onto Cabramatta School. After his father died in 1918 the family moved to 461 Liverpool Rd Croydon, Sydney, NSW and he continued his schooling at Croydon and Ashfield Public Schools. He left School at the age of 14 years and undertook various jobs, consisting of cleaning out horse stables at Dairy Farmers Pty Ltd Ashfield, working at the Croydon Ice Skating Rink and a nine hole mini golf rink before undertaking an apprenticeship as a Presser, working at "Our Tailor's" in Sussex St, Sydney.
John played C Grade Football for Ashfield Rovers for two seasons before buying a Bike and joining the Enfield-Burwood Bike Club. He left his apprenticeship at "Our Tailors" and found a job at Randall & Pattison where he met his future wife Gloria Sykes.
He played the Guitar in his brothers (Bill) band playing at various dance halls and night clubs and also at Radio Station 2KY for eight weeks. (Broke his little finger and this prevented him from playing again).
At the time of Johns marriage in 1942 he was living at 461 Liverpool Road Croydon NSW and was employed as a Presser.
It was after their marriage that they moved into a flat at Petersham, Sydney, eventually moving into a house at 124a Milton St, Ashfield where they raised their three children.
1983 to 1993 - Resided at 14 Normandy street Narrawallee NSW
1993 to 1996 - Resided at 1 macleay Street Narrawallee NSW
After Gloria passed away Jack moved into his son’s (Warwick) house at 1 Macleay St Narrawallee.
Jacks health failed him in late 1996 and he eventually was placed in a nursing home in Canley Vale Sydney.
