Witnesses to the marriage were Clementina Burton who is probably Charles older sister and Isaac Turner who could be Charles father or another relation. It took eleven years and countless brick walls to find this marriage record. I can only assume the reason for this is that Anna had children of previous relationships and was never married...she has changed her name on this marriage certificate to Hannah Maria Ward Smith instead of Anna Maria Ward. An obvious attempt to hide her identity. She no doubt had never heard of the Internet (Big Grin).
