(Copy on File) Event Notes Note (1) Born - Alfred John Seitz / Sykes, birth registration appears under both surnames in the NSW BDM register. No explanation for the dual surnames...originally thought surname changed due to outbreak of WW1 and Johns father being of Danish/German background but the names changed well before this when John was born in 1884. Johann Jochim Seitz used the surnames Seitz, Scharmer and Sykes. John's marriage certificate has noted on it that his fathers name was John Henry Sykes. Note (2) Alfred was noted as the Next of Kin for his son Lawrence on his entry into Military Service in WW2. Note (3) Newspaper Death Notice "Sykes, John Alfred - May 6, 1958, of 18 Kent Street, Millers Point, dearly loved husband of Gertrude (Sis) Sykes, loved father of John, Edward, Joseph, Gertie, Edna, William, Ray, Gloria, Laurie, and Allan, dear grandfather and great-grandfather of their children.
