Note (5) Application to Enlist in the Australian Imperial Force. Augustus attempted to join the Australian Military Forces but was rejected as being "Medically Unfit for Active Service""Physique below Standard". Age - 34 yrs Height - 5'4" Weight - 108 lbs Note (6) Information on his DC indicates that he had been in Australia for seven years which puts his arrival at 1911 preceeding the rest of the family by three years. Whereas his Character Reference was dated 1914. He was still in England at the time of the 1911 Census. Note (7) Headstone Inscription - IN Loving Memory of our Dear Parents Augustus W. Witness's to the wedding were Albert Arthur Harrison and Rosetta Harrison...Rosetta is Leah's sister. Note (9) Extract from Certificate of Registry of Birth - I, the undersigned, do herby Certify that the Birth of Leah Turner born on the 9th of May 1880, has been duly Registered by me. Witness my hand, this 19th day of June 1880. W. Note (11) Census also includes the Hotel name "Marlborough Arms". As Leah Turner was a Barmaid working at this hotel she might not have been living at this address. She may have been working the night of the Census. Note (12) The Dwelling that Augustus and Leah and family lived in at the time of the 1911 Census consisted of only 3 rooms excluding the bathroom.
